The studio assigned pre-existing buildings to teams and focused on developing a narrative to represent the building through. My team and I were assigned Arena do Morro by Herzog and de Meuron located in Natal, Brasil. The gymnasium is part of a larger initiative by the firm to revitalize neighborhoods by offering them a space to exercise what it means to be a community. Due to the playful nature of the structure, we elected to represent the building in bright colors nodding to a child-like wonder the Arena creates. Through a model, drawings, and renderings, the building and it’s story is borught to life. Each drawing and rendering included is my own work, the model was done with two teammates.
